Research areas of the Department of Criminal Law are determined taking into account the Institution and the department theme of research, due to the relevance of the problems to be developed and the content of curricula of disciplines taught by teachers of the department. In particular, every teacher works on improving individual research covered by the following:
‘Policy in the Fight Against Crime: Theoretical and Applied Issues’ (supervisor – Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor Pavlo Lvovych Fris). Within the framework of the research scientific-practical conferences, scientific-practical seminars and round tables with the participation of practical workers are held, dissertations, monographs, textbooks, scientific articles are prepared.
On the basis of the department there is a Laboratory for the Study of Corporate Law of the F.G.Burchak Research Institute of Private Law and Entrepreneurship (National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine) and a Training and Research Laboratory for Crime Research of V.V.Stashis Crime Research Institute (National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine).
The main directions of the Laboratory activity:
– conducting joint scientific and practical events;
– defense of PhD theses, internships, advanced training of members of the department at the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine;
– joint publishing activities (collective monographs, scientific articles).
The Department of Criminal Law takes an active part at the annual scientific conferences of the University and other institutions of higher education, ensuring the work of the criminal law section.
Teachers of the Department of Criminal Law act as opponents in the defense of PhD theses.
The Department of Criminal Law is constantly involved in the preparation of scientific opinions on legal issues at the request of public authorities, in particular, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, and SBU in Ivano-Frankivsk Region.
On the basis of the teachers individual researches scientific and educational-methodical works are published.
